What's the difference between repairing and rebuilding?

A repair fixes the failure in front of us. A rebuild is complete disassembly, cleaning, measurement and replacement of worn parts to spec. The diagnosis — not the invoice — decides which one the engine needs.

Is the unit safe to drive in?

Call 780 440 1723 before you move a derated unit. Different fault conditions want different handling — some units will make it in fine, some shouldn't be driven at all, and the code usually tells us which.

Can you just clear the code?

We can, and it will come back. Clearing buys you a few hours, not a repair — and if the cause is soot loading or a dosing fault, driving on a cleared code makes the next repair bigger. We diagnose the cause first and quote from that.

Why does it keep regenerating?

Frequent regens usually mean the filter is loading faster than it should, and that cause is almost always upstream — injectors, turbo, EGR, or a duty cycle the truck was never spec'd for. Reading the soot-loading history is how we tell which.

Honestly, it depends on whether the fault will show itself. A hard fault with a stored code is often inside an hour; a genuine intermittent takes as long as it takes to reproduce. That's why we agree an authorized block of hours up front and call you before it goes past it — rather than quoting a number we'd have to walk back.
